It’s no secret that Dayton is strong and resilient. The fifth annual For Dayton, By Dayton event celebrates that community spirit by putting on a concert of local artists from all genres at Riverscape Metropark on June 8, 2024. The event is a labor of love, put on for the Dayton community, exclusively by members of the Dayton community.
2019’s inaugural event at Riverscape was a huge success with over 700 people in attendance and a Facebook following of nearly 2000 people. In true Dayton-style, we have continued to grow, year after year, with 2022’s event breaking past years’ records with over 1,000 attendees.

At the core of For Dayton, By Dayton is a feeling. It’s strong and rhythmic, and it beats in time to your every step. It’s opening your door on a warm day to hear the sounds of live music echoing from just a few blocks away. It’s realizing you’re craving whatever is cooking at the nearby food stands, and wanting to sit, stand, or dance with your favorite local artist on the riverfront. It’s discovering the sounds of up and coming Dayton musicians, the kind you can enjoy with your family, even the little ones!
The love of that very special feeling keeps us coming back year after year, and we strive to provide that same experience each time an artist takes the stage. We believe we’ve done just that! But the truth is that it takes funding to get it done. For the last four years, capable individuals and businesses within our community have supported our vision and helped us to improve upon that experience. In this fifth year, we ask nothing more and nothing less of our community. Help us provide a platform for local artists and musicians to showcase their talent while sharing in true passion and spirit for our community.
How are your donations and sponsorships used?
We’re glad you asked. First and foremost, we have to have a place to perform! A majority of sponsorship and donations go towards the cost of the venue, protection and coverage, sound and staging, and the hiring of professionals such as DJs, event photographers, and videographers. We also take into consideration the cost of advertising and funding future events. Because of our event staff consists of volunteers, most spend many personal hours over the course of several months to a year to make 4DBD a reality. We like to thank them when we can for their dedication, as well as all of our artists and vendors. In years past, we’ve done this by providing a meal to each individual involved in the event. We hope to do more with every returning show.
